CAS-AM: Shaping the Future of Thrombosis Care
Exciting day in training the new antithrombotic management experts: Portfolio Discussions with faculty. Following the first training week, participants worked on their CAS-AM portfolios reflecting and providing evidence of the development of antithrombotic management competences. At the end of the day, each course participant discussed the portfolio with two faculty members as part of the final assessment.
The day started with an enthusiastic post-discussion on “Optimizing stroke prevention in AF”, guided by Renate Schnabel and Bruna Gigante. Raffaele De Caterina provided an excellent keynote lecture on “Dilemmas in anticoagulation for artificial heart valves and closure devices” including an historical overview of valve development. After this, course participants prepared for the final case of the course “A patient with microangipathy” guided by Florian Langer and Ulrich Sachs. After diner, the day was closed by an outstanding, eye-opening, lecture by Carlo Patrono on “Why phase III trails may fail”, highlighting the importance of scientific and ethical integrity of all stakeholders.
